Chief Executive Officer of American Institute of Architects, Robert Ivy, has just been granted the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters; and throughout his professional career and personal life, he has earned that award stupendously. With a profoundly decorated career in architecture, as well as a varied educational background, Robert Ivy has shown his many qualities and gifts throughout his professional life, starting with his cum laude Bachelor of Arts in English, and moving onto his Masters degree in Architecture in 1976. A Tulane University graduate, he also has many extensive architectural publications and critiques, such as a biography of the American Architect Fay Jones.

The first architect to receive the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award, Ivy is also the former Editor-in-Chief of the Architectural Record for McGraw-Hill, as well as the recipient of the designation of “Master Architect” from the national architectural fraternity Alpha Rho Chi.

At McGraw-Hill, he exploded the Architectural Record’s growth, launching a Mandarin version, and growing it’s readership in places such as the Middle East, making it the most widely dispersed architectural magazine in the entire world.

Other gifted and talented individuals to receive this award include artist Walter Anderson, writer Shelby Foote, as well as actor Morgan Freeman. Robert is an incredible and gifted architect who helps make Mississippi a better and brighter place, and is definitely deserving to be distinguished in such an honorable way. Being the first ever architect to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award is a high honor, and Robert Ivy is the best person suited to receive such an honor in the State of Mississippi.
